About this work
A colored caricature print by Udo Keppler from 1898 shows a crowned, winged figure perched atop a giant cannon aimed across a shoreline. Top-hatted men strain against ropes to haul the gun forward over snow and sand, while a banner reads 'Come and be saved, if you don't.' and a small flag bears the word 'Hoist'.
