About this work
A colored caricature shows several men in period suits repairing a white classical statue of a woman crowned with the word Prosperity. One man on a ladder grips the statue's neck while others attach an arm, a cornucopia overflowing with fruit, and a bucket labeled Sound Policy Cement. The 1893 print by Udo Keppler presents a political allegory about restoring economic prosperity.
