About this work
A colour lithographic political cartoon titled A tempting tail, by Udo Keppler, dated 1902. Uncle Sam stands before a fanned peacock whose tail feathers are labelled with legislative items such as Shipping Subsidy, Nicaragua Canal, Army and Navy, and Appropriations, while several men with large scissors move in to cut them away. The word TRUST is spelled across the tail in large letters.
