About this work
This Japanese woodblock print shows a crowd of figures wading and swimming across a wide river with sandbars, some carried on poles and others aboard flat-bottomed boats with green-roofed cabins. Mount Fuji rises in the pale distance under a red and blue gradient sky, and a poem is inscribed in the upper left.
