About this work
A woman in a blue kimono and headscarf lifts a branch of red maple leaves with one arm while balancing a large bundle of dark kindling on her head. Her sleeve and garment bear a pattern of blue flowers and green stems against a plain beige ground. The print is attributed to Kamisaka Sekka and dated 1909-1910.
