About this work
This Japanese-style print by Kamisaka Sekka, titled Hydrangea (Ajisai) and dated 1909-1910, shows clusters of blue and lavender hydrangea blossoms with broad green leaves veined in orange. A pale green bamboo vase and a brown wooden surface sit behind the flowers against a cream background, and the flat color areas are outlined with fine dark lines.
