About this work
A Japanese woodblock print showing travelers crossing a shallow river on a wooden plank bridge, with porters carrying a red palanquin and a woman balancing baskets on a shoulder pole. Pine trees crown a green embankment beside a thatched-roof house, and a pink sunset glows over the water. The print is by Utagawa Hiroshige and dates to ca. 1841-1842.
