About this work
A woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige, dated ca. 1841-1842, shows a procession of five travelers in blue robes and straw hats walking along a road past large pine trees. A calm blue sea, a distant range of mountains, and thatched roofs appear across the green fields behind them, with a Japanese title cartouche in the upper left.
