About this work
This Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige, titled Hakone and dated ca. 1841-1842, shows travelers carrying a palanquin along a rocky mountain path. Pine trees cling to the green slope, and a stone marker inscribed with place names stands beside the road under a gradient sky.
