About this work
A color lithographic poster by Léo Lelée titled Arênes de Nimes, dated 1926, shows the interior of the arena at Nîmes viewed from above. Curving tiers of stone seating and arched openings in the weathered outer wall frame a split floor of golden and olive sand under a pale blue sky, with a church spire rising beyond the ruins. The printed credit line reads Lucien Serre & Cie, Paris, and April 1926.
