About this work
A lithograph titled Chats by Théophile Alexandre Steinlen, dated 1896, shows a large black cat seated beside a tabby cat that lies stretched out across the floor. The dark, grainy tones and loose strokes contrast with a patterned cushion and a curtained window in the background, and the artist's signature and date appear at lower left.
