About this work
A Japanese woodblock print shows an interior room with tatami flooring and shoji and painted sliding screens decorated with blossoming branches. A kneeling figure in a blue patterned robe, a standing woman in a blue kimono with red maple-leaf motifs, and a figure in blue lying behind a green curtain are shown, with two swords placed on the floor. The print is attributed to Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III) and dated 1851-1853.
