About this work

This architectural longitudinal section shows the interior of a large domed hall with colonnades, galleries, and a richly ornamented stage area beneath a vaulted ceiling painted with clouds and figures. Ink and wash rendering with pink and green tints depicts the walls, columns, and roof trusses, with a scale bar along the bottom. The drawing is titled as a section of the Colisée built in Paris in 1771 on the Grand Chemin de Neuilly, attributed to Jean Jacques Lequeu.
