About this work
A pen-and-ink caricature shows a woman in Salvation Army bonnet and dark dress, with a tiger's head and striped tail, holding a City Reform War Cry newspaper at a saloon doorway. Inside, men play cards and drink under a sign reading "To H-L with Reform" by Asa Bird Gardiner, while a uniformed policeman watches from the street. The work is dated 1903 and signed by the artist.
