About this work

A watercolor and ink sketch shows an elderly woman with gray hair tied back, bending toward a pale pink peach floating on shallow water beside a wooden bucket. The loose washes of brown, blue and gray and the sparse background follow the page's sketchbook character. This plate is from Album of Ichiryusai Hiroshige's Sketches, attributed to Utagawa Hiroshige, ca. 1850.
