About this work
A pale watercolor sketch shows a kneeling figure in a blue and lavender patterned kimono with a dark collar and red underlayer, beside a large yellow incense burner with two incense sticks rising from it. The figure has an animal-like face and yellow hair ornaments, set on a plain cream ground. This page is part of the Album of Ichiryusai Hiroshige's Sketches, dated ca. 1850.
