About this work
This ink and light wash drawing on paper shows two figures: a smiling round-faced man at left, and a bearded elderly man in a robe and tall hat at right, with a second hat visible behind him. The loose brushwork and open composition are characteristic of Japanese ink sketching. The work is attributed to Kawanabe Kyōsai, dated to the 1800s, and is titled Gods of Good Fortune.
