About this work
A lithograph showing Cossack soldiers resting at a camp beside a crumbling brick wall, with horses tethered nearby and a dog at their feet. One figure cooks over a fire beneath a tripod while others lean on the wall, and a large tree shades a draped tent with lances leaning against it. The print is titled Bivouac de Cosaques, after Carle Vernet, dated c. 1800-1836.
