About this work
A multi-panel colour lithograph by Samuel Ehrhart from 1903 satirizes different classes of society, with a central bearded figure in a pointed hat selling Zion candy, lace and shoes beside slogans about eternal salvation. Surrounding vignettes show working men, musicians, a home-plan reading, a palmistry parlor, fashionable women and a crowd buying stock labeled as watered.
