About this work
Whither Are We Drifting is a 1913 print by Samuel Ehrhart shown as a multi-panel cartoon. Scenes follow a father attending a kindergarten graduation, an academy commencement, and a high school and college graduation, each with a child asking "Whither are we drifting?" A central panel shows a man buried in graduation bills and papers, pointing to a sign reading "We are drifting to the poorhouse and d, quick."
