About this work
A two-part comic print contrasts a colonial-era patriot in tricorn hat refusing tea with a 1907 family seated at a dinner table with a roast, their elderly relative carving beside them. Below, a line of shoppers passes a market sign, and a ribbon winds through the scenes, while the captions carry the satirical message. The work is titled "Our forefathers fought for a principle - there is no fight in us" by Samuel Ehrhart, dated 1907.
