About this work
A multi-panel colour print by Samuel Ehrhart, dated 1906, shows scenes aboard a steamship where passengers bet on races and stocks by wireless. Panels depict a pool room deck with a racing board, a crowded curb market scrum, diners at luncheon, a smoking room with a 'No gambling allowed on board this ship' sign, and ship police breaking up a shuffleboard game. Central signs for U.S. Steel, Erie, Pennsylvania and Amalgamated Copper frame a stock exchange crowd beside a 'Wireless to New York and London direct' booth.
