About this work
A chaotic gallery interior crowded with men in top hats and uniformed guards who lift, carry, and hang large framed paintings on pink walls under a vaulted ceiling. Children look on while workers climb ladders and dangle from ropes, and a cart loaded with canvases stands in the center. The scene is rendered as a colour print titled Daily scene in the Louvre, by Samuel Ehrhart, dated 1911.
