About this work
A richly coloured satirical print shows a crowded divorce courtroom where a judge holds a book labelled Divorce Laws while groups of onlookers, marked as jury, creditors, co-respondents, relatives and rubbernecks, crowd the space. Garlands of bills, checks and pink ribbons hang overhead, and a woman in a dark gown carries papers labelled evidence. Signed by Samuel Ehrhart, the work is dated 1906.
