About this work
A multi-panel color cartoon shows a man in a striped suit at a desk in a private office, surrounded by hidden figures peering from behind screens, bookshelves and a potted vase. Surrounding vignettes depict him followed by armed agents on a city avenue, at breakfast, at a formal dinner, and at night in bed, with a grinning figure looming over him. The work is credited to Samuel Ehrhart and dated 1909.
