About this work
This 1882 print by Joseph Ferdinand Keppler, titled Longfellow, shows an oval portrait of the bearded poet framed by drapery at the upper left. Two draped female figures raise laurel wreaths toward the portrait, while a winged angel and a crowd of figures with banners marching across a landscape fill the upper right. A printed poem in a panel at the lower left offers a lament for the poet.
