About this work
This colour chromolithograph by Bernhard Gillam, dated 1884, shows a large Santa Claus figure labeled Cleveland standing before a fireplace in a bedroom filled with caricatured politicians in nightclothes and nightcaps. Stockings hang from the mantel, a rocking horse and a clock sit nearby, and a cat rests by the hearth.
