About this work
A tall, colorfully printed figure in a red feathered cap, purple tunic with silver leaf-shaped panels, and a flowing red cape stands on a grassy green ground with a distant mountain behind. The figure grips a yellow-hilted sword and sports pointed red shoes and a sharp grin, in the manner of a devilish stage character. The print is attributed to René Ackermann and dated 1906-1918, and is titled Carnival figure dressed as Mephistopheles, demon from German folklore.
