About this work
This pen and grey wash drawing presents an alphabet in large block letters, arranged in four rows against a backdrop of trees, houses, a windmill and a church spire. Small putti labor on the letters with hammers, ladders and tools, animating each character. The sheet is attributed to Nelly Bodenheim and dated between 1884 and 1917.
