About this work
A hand-colored print shows two figures in traditional Japanese court dress, one in a violet robe with gold and silver patterns over an orange skirt, the other in a blue robe with gold floral motifs over black striped trousers. The figure on the right wears a dark lacquered cap with a long ribbon, and a Japanese caption is inscribed at the upper right.
