About this work
A hand-colored print from the 1913 book Unai no tomo by Shimizu Seifū shows a whimsical toy-like figure with a red face, grimacing features, and red feet. Its green body is decorated with white swirling and wave patterns, and dark and pale feathers rise from its back and head. Handwritten Japanese calligraphy appears in the upper left.
