About this work
A woodblock-style print in black and blue shows a nude female figure bent forward, her long blue hair flowing outward and downward around her body against a dark textured ground. The stylized, rhythmic linework of the hair contrasts with the pale, unshaded figure. The work is titled Melancholy, created by Tanaka Kyōkichi in 1914.
