This page from Chōjū ryakugashiki, Pl.19, attributed to Masayoshi Kitao, shows a series of stylized birds in flat colors of gray, rust, and black. A long-necked speckled fowl stands at center, with a rooster, hens, and chicks gathered below and a cage at the right, while birds in flight and a perched bird appear above.
