About this work
This Japanese woodblock print shows two women with elaborate updo hairstyles, decorated with ornamental hairpins and flower accessories, wearing richly patterned kimonos in red, pink and gold. A vertical cartouche bearing Japanese calligraphy and a pale floral design appear at the upper right.
