About this work
A triptych woodblock print shows Japanese soldiers in white caps and dark uniforms charging up a wooded mountain beneath a large rising sun flag, while smoke and explosions fill the sky. On the left, red-clad defenders behind a stone wall face the attack, and at lower right, observers in hats and suits watch and take notes. The work is the 1894 print by Toshikata Mizuno titled Hurrah and Hurrah Again for the Great Empire of Japan! Great Victory for the Japanese Army in the Assault on Seonghwan.
