About this work

This monochrome ink landscape shows steep, folded mountains rising on the right, with dense pine forests and a cluster of low rooftop dwellings nestled at their base. Bare-branched trees stand in the foreground beside a flat expanse of water and faint hills on the left. Ink inscription in the upper left and a red seal in the lower right complete the composition, which is attributed to Tsubaki Chinzan and dated 1847.
