About this work
This line etching by Henri Matisse, dated 1929, shows a seated female nude with her arms crossed on her knees and her head resting upon them, gazing out at the viewer. The image is rendered in economical, continuous contour lines on a pale ground, and the signature and edition numbering appear in pencil in the lower margin.
