About this work
A woodblock print by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi dated 1885, titled Tamausagi songokū. A monkey warrior in layered armor grips a red staff with gilt ends and leaps toward a white rabbit with red eyes, set against a large pale full moon on a black ground. A Japanese title cartouche and artist seal appear at the upper right and lower right.
