About this work
This hand-colored plan shows the city, citadels, port and arsenals of Marseille, with the densely built town in red and surrounding fields and hills in muted tones. Ships are anchored in the harbor, and an ornate cartouche with allegorical figures and a coat of arms sits in the upper left. The print is dated 1709 and attributed to Anna Beek.
