About this work
A hand-colored engraved plan of the fortified city of Lille, with its pink-shaded urban blocks enclosed by star-shaped bastions and a separate citadel to the east. Siege approaches, batteries and trench lines are drawn across the surrounding fields, and a decorative cartouche with tools sits in the lower left corner. The print is dated 1709 and attributed to Anna Beek.
