About this work
This hand-coloured 1709 print shows a bird's-eye plan of the fortified city and citadel of Antwerp, with its dense street grid, star-shaped bastions and moat. Sailing ships ride the Escaut in the foreground, and a compass rose and an inset map of the surrounding region appear in the corners. The work is catalogued as a print by Anna Beek.
