About this work
This hand-colored battle plan shows the armies of Peter I and Charles XII drawn in red, yellow, green and olive formations across a fortified landscape bisected by the Worskla River. A pink-tinted fortress, numbered positions, and a decorative cartouche with flags, drums and cannons frame the composition. The print is dated 1709 and is titled as a plan of the famous battle near Poltava in Ukraine.
