About this work
A hand-colored bird's-eye map of the walled city of Mechelen, shown with its star-shaped bastions, moat-like waterways, dense rows of red-roofed buildings, and surrounding patchwork fields. A coat of arms appears at upper left and a decorative title cartouche at upper right, with a compass rose and scale bar above.
