About this work

A hand-colored copperplate map of Leuven shows the walled city in a circular fortified plan, surrounded by fields, roads, and a river. A figure of Minerva holding a spear and a caduceus stands beside a pink cartouche with dedicatory text, and a coat of arms appears at upper right. A lettered legend and a compass rose complete the composition. The work is dated 1709.
