About this work
A Japanese woodblock print shows two men in a violent sword struggle under dark, rain-streaked skies. One figure in a dark green robe grips a blade while the other, in a blue-green kimono and holding a folded umbrella, is struck and bleeding from the head. The work is attributed to Tsukioka Yoshitoshi and dated 1866.
