About this work
A colour print titled In China, attributed to George Markendorff and dated 1908, shows four children in traditional Chinese dress. From left to right, one child holds a string of red firecrackers, another carries a bamboo pole with a lit firecracker, a girl holds a folding fan and a red paper lantern, and two children sit beneath a large floral parasol beside a small tea table.
