About this work
A moose stands at the edge of shallow water on the left while two hunters in winter coats crouch on a fallen log and a rock on the right, one aiming a rifle and the other raising a long cylindrical call. The muted brown background and sparse grass suggest an open wetland. The chromolithographic print is titled Moose call, made by George Markendorff in 1900.
