About this work

A hand-colored print titled The Cemetery, attributed to Fritz Sonderland and dated 1888. A churchyard scene shows a large crucifix with two stone figures, a mourner in black seated beside a grave, a woman in red laying a wreath, and a gardener with a spade near a cross. A ruined tower stands on the hill beyond the trees, and the inscription reads "Ich bin die Auferstehung und das Leben."
