About this work
A colorful lithographic street scene shows a Gasthaus with a sign for beer, wine and liqueur, and a stone archway leading into a courtyard. Travelers, a woman carrying a pitcher, a seated elderly man, and a dog-drawn cart of milk churns animate the roadside, while a horse-drawn covered wagon waits beside a trough. The print is dated 1888 and attributed to Fritz Sonderland under the title On the country road.
