About this work
A hand-colored print titled Village by A. Toller, dated 1875, shows a German-style village street with half-timbered houses under red tile roofs and a church tower on the hill. Cattle, horses, and a flock of geese move through the scene while villagers work, carry goods, and tend a young tree. The lithograph's caption and publisher's imprint at the bottom identify it as part of a series of educational picture sheets.
